Children
Should my children have their eyes examined?
The answer is definately YES. A child is never too young to have an eye examination if you think there may be a problem with their vision. However, we would advise every child to have an eye examination between the ages of 1 and 2 years of age. Routine checkups would be normally advised from school age upwards.
A surprising number of young children have vision irregularities, usually minor. The earlier these are detected the better as vision problems can hinder learning and academic performance.
Incidentally, your child's eye examination is paid for by the NHS and vouchers are available if spectacles are required.
